Update on storage

Now, we know this may not excite everyone - but we are excited. Our storage is getting more organised.

While we know these are not archivally sound boxes, they are our next step in sorting. Our textiles are carefully wrapped in tissue while we work out how much we have, and we can store all the small kitchen items and, more importantly, find them!

This is the main storage stream. We also have an archival stream in our shed (which is really not a good enough name for our very dark and carefully insulated storage area).

You can see how this area looked a couple of months ago HERE.

This is the archival stream - where books and items unsuitable for our dropfiles, are stored.

The top boxes are archivally correct, and the bottom boxes hold the Grocers' records - just waiting for a chance to sort them and store them in more appropriate boxes.

Cataloguing Stats

Just occasionally, it is interesting to look at stats, so we took this opportunity at the end of the financial year.

The Stratford Historical Society catalogue (where all items, be they photograph, document or object) are entered in the one database, has:

2506 entries in total

975 of these have an image associated with them (mostly of objects)

1136 of the entries are for archived photographs

We love our catalogue!
