Heritage Victoria Grants

Stratford Historical Museum, Vic

Stratford Historical Society is delighted to receive news that Heritage Victoria has granted $30,000 for a new roof and engineering assessment of the Former Methodist Church; and $4,600 for a significance assessment of the Stratford Historical Society Museum collection.

The Significance Study will allow a detailed (and independent) examination of the whole collection, and drive future decisions on collection care. And we are delighted about the roof!

Building Better Regional Museums Grant

Now this is one that it is really hard to find a photograph to go with this.

But we are delighted to announce that Stratford Historical Society has received a grant from Building Better Regional Museums to connect us to the sewage system.

We appreciate very much Museums Australia (Victoria) and Arts Victoria for the provision of the funds to carry out this desperately-needed work.

Photograph??? It is always good to have a photograph to illustrate what we are talking about.

I know.

If we had not received support from BBRM, we might otherwise have had to resort to using this home-made Commode Chair in our collection.

It is one of our better pieces, adapted from an early kitchen chair.

But maybe it makes you appreciate how much we appreciate the grant.

And we also appreciated very much the advice from Barbara Wels, of the BBRM program, who had some very useful suggestions for us on a range of issues.
